Slick up in it

Yesterday I gave Evelyn a cup of water to drink. She drank a little, then dumped it on the floor. I wiped that up. She asked for more. I gave her a little more. This time she turned the cup over immediately. I wiped that up. She asked for more, but I refused. She was insistent, so I gave her water in a baby bottle, much to her chagrin. A few minutes later, I see her holding the baby bottle upside down, shaking it for all she's worth. Then she takes a step and, sure enough, slips and falls in the puddle. And she wonders why I don't give her more water to dump!

She likes to say "Mama" and "Da-eee" and "Naneee." She also says "Mom-n-da" for "Mama and Daddy."

I know babies must be puzzled why momma doesn't just let them have their fun over and over and over and over and.....what a shock it must be to discover Momma is a person that gets tired of stuff!! ha ha!! The dropping reminded me of Liz and her pacifier throwing. She would go to bed with her pacifier in her mouth, quite contented. About five minutes later I would hear a WHACK as the pacifier hit the wall across the room, followed by loud wailing. So in I would go to retrieve the pacifier. Five minutes later....WHACK! I think she liked watching the pacifier sail through the air, and then she would realize it was gone. More wailing. Steve would say, "Don't you dare get up and give her that pacifier." Wailing would continue. Mom would start to crumble and go in and retrieve the pacifier. Five minutes later.... yep, I am ashamed to say I actually retrieved the pacifier five times before announcing to her, "This game is over!" She looked at me with those big blue eyes. Then, of course, we had to listen to an hour of wailing when the pacifier was not returned. But, she never did it again. Smart girl.....no wonder she's doing so well in college!!!
I miss Evelyn!! She was such a big girl this time and with so much personality. Bea is in the hospital and I was visiting her today and bragging about Evelyn. She was very interested. I felt bad because I did not have a picture. Are there any wallet sized pictures of Evelyn?

Evelyn found a game like that yesterday at the playground: she puts a wood chip in her mouth, I chase her and take it away, she sticks another one in there and runs, etc. By reacting at all we're encouraging them, but what can you do?
