Evelyn loves Artemis the cat. She grins when she sees her, does the sign for cat and says "meow, mow" in a high voice. Sometimes she pets the cat nicely, but pretty soon she starts smacking the cat and grabbing at her tail. The cat seems to be thinking, "I've spent the last year running from this human. I'm tired of it. I'm going to sit right here and not be intimidated... dang it! This hurts. I'm out of here!"
Then the cat moves a little out of reach. Evelyn runs toward her, flapping her hands and screeching. The cat runs a little farther. Evelyn repeats the flapping and screeching until the cat is out of sight. Then she raises her hands and says "Go?" - the sign for "Where did it go?" Duh, baby, I'd run too if you were twice my size and screeched at me like that.
Last night Evelyn tried brownie batter (more, more) and broccoli ("boc-ee"). She likes to eat orange chicken from Panda Express, just like her dad.
Her favorite body part these days is her neck.
Last night I took her to the store with me to get the brownie mix. "Evelyn, do you want to go to the store with me?" no reaction. "... In the car?" run for the front door! Hurray, the car is a big thrill now. When I left for work this morning, and yesterday morning, she was climbing around in Nana's car. I look forward to our next vehicle purchase, when Evelyn will check out every inch of the new vehicle when we buy it.
